Next for book club is Unstoppable by Joshua M. Greene.
“Unstoppable: Siggi B. Wilzig’s Astonishing Journey from Auschwitz Survivor and Penniless Immigrant to Wall Street Legend” is a biographical account of the life of Siggi B. Wilzig, a Holocaust survivor and successful businessman.
Wilzig was born in Germany in 1927 and, as a young boy, he and his family were sent to Auschwitz during the Holocaust. Wilzig’s mother and siblings were killed in the concentration camp, but he managed to survive. After the war ended, Wilzig immigrated to the United States with no money and no connections.
Despite these challenges, Wilzig was determined to succeed. He worked hard and eventually landed a job at a gas station, where he worked his way up to become the manager. From there, he moved on to work in the banking industry, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a top executive.
In the 1980s, Wilzig entered the world of Wall Street and founded the Trust Company of New Jersey. Under his leadership, the company became one of the most successful independent trust companies in the United States.
Throughout his career, Wilzig was known for his tireless work ethic, his integrity, and his commitment to giving back to the community. He was a philanthropist who supported numerous charitable causes and was actively involved in efforts to educate the public about the Holocaust.
Wilzig’s life story is an inspiring tale of resilience, determination, and the power of the human spirit to overcome even the most difficult of circumstances.”
